Discover the true colours of a place.
“I respectfully acknowledge the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people, the traditional custodians of the land where I live and work. I honour their Elders, past and present, and recognise the ongoing connections of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to culture, community, and Country, as well as the broader Nations with whom we share this journey.”
— Kris Kerehona (Ngāpuhi Iwi Aotearoa)
Local Colour is the visual storytelling practice of environmental photographer, Kris Kerehona.
Kris Kerehona is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, video producer, and photographer with 18+ years of experience in crafting compelling visual narratives for Australian national cultural institutions and government agencies. He is known for his storytelling skills, technical expertise in video production, and passion for sharing culturally significant stories.
His photography practice is about searching for that sense of place - the local colour. Local Colour explores the overlooked corners of natural and urban areas and those spaces in-between; to capture images that reveal its history, culture, and the everyday fabric of life.
This website services as a professional portfolio, an artistic practice of a life-long photographic practice, and a photographic archive spanning more than two decades.
